Shelby County No Kill Mission - What we do

The Shelby County No Kill Mission is a nonprofit organization that works with the Shelby County Animal Shelter. We are a volunteer based group that was founded in 2008, to help provide medical care and anything needed to help the animals at the county run open door admission shelter find forever homes or rescues. Shelby County No Kill Mission provides all cat vaccines and felv testing for the shelter's cats/kittens. We operate, supply and run the spay/neuter clinic for the shelter. We provide heartworm testing, as well as treatment for the shelter dogs. We provide medications and emergency care to those animals that enter the shelter program. We provide martingale collars and leashes for those animals leaving on transport. The Shelby County No Kill Mission also provides microchips for all adopted animals and animals leaving to other rescues.  We provide a foster care program for the shelter's animals as well as host and participate in off site adoption events. We have hosted and will continue to host as finances allow, free spay/neuter clinics to the Shelby County residents. We have helped achieve no kill status for the county shelter 2009 and for the following years have maintained it.

The Shelby County No Kill Mission is a volunteer based group. We do not have a building and do not take animals outside of the county. We help the Shelby County Animal Shelter's adoptable animals. We depend on donations and volunteers to continue our mission.
